360 ° Tour was taking off exactly three years ago

On June 30, 2009, U2 released their space station 360 in Barcelona. It was the beginning of a tour that lasted two years, with 110 presentations in 30 countries to an audience of 7 million people. With this, the band won the brand to have the most lucrative tour of all music history, grossing more than $ 700 million.

In this debut tour, more than 90,000 people packed the Camp Nou with tickets that were sold in just 54 minutes.

U2 presented the world with "The Claw" - The Claw - which would become the greatest symbol of the tour. A huge metal structure 50 meters and 390 tons, which occupied half the pitch of the stadium. "The Claw" was inspired by the work the Holy Family, the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.

The show began with "Breathe," the latest album 'No Line On The Horizon'. The public was surprised to see Larry going first and getting to play his drums alone. Then came Adam and Edge and finally Bono. From the same album were played in all seven songs. Quite different from what we saw here in Brazil in April 2011.


The classic hits also were not lacking, and other songs that were left out through the last tour and returned with a vengeance. Focus on "The Unforgettable Fire" and "Ultra Violet".

 



Throughout the show, U2 paid tribute to Michael Jackson who had recently died. Bono dedicated to him the song "Angel of Harlem" and sang excerpts from "Man in the Mirror". 



The space station U2 also made contact with another space station. To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the arrival of man on the moon, Bono made ​​direct contact with the International Space Station, astronauts talking about the environment and the need to preserve the planet.

They still held sheets of paper, creating the phrase "The future needs a big kiss." The show almost stopped at this moment, when all the band members asked questions to the astronauts.


Another exciting moment was when Bono sang "Walk On" to Aung San Suu Kyi The Burmese won leading voice on this tour, appearing on the giant screen. Otherwise, the public and several other people (usually volunteers from Amnesty International) entered the stage with her ​​shades. "Let their faces be hers," said Bono.
